Berkeley Life Centre’s genesis is in the home visiting of our Adopt-a-Block initiative. We’ve noticed that there are a number of people in our community who we visit regularly who have not stepped into our building or attended a program but still consider Wayne their pastor and Berkeley Life Centre to be their church. We value Adopt-a-Block as a crucial part of our ministry in reaching out to people and developing relationships. We also use Adopt-a-Block to provide practical support to those in need, providing food basics and essentials – including regular bread delivery.
If you’d like to be trained up to join our Adopt-a-Block ministry team or if you’d just like to know more about how local lives have been changed through this ministry we would love to hear from you!
We gather in the Green Shed each Sunday at 10am to worship through song and prayer, hear God’s Word and be encouraged to continue living for Jesus. As one of our members says, ‘We have a laugh, then we get serious’. Join us one Sunday!
Our church services are a safe and welcoming place to learn about Jesus, encourage each other and connect with a kingdom focused family who believe Jesus is Lord, and strive every day to live more like Him.
Things have changed a little bit during Covid-19, so for now, you can also catch a service by watching Church Online through our Facebook at 10am and 3pm.
Our Second Chance Op Shop on Winnima Way serves as both a place to grab a bargain and a drop in center to come and have a chat and a cuppa. We have a team of dedicated local volunteers who run and manage our merchandise side of the OpShop that provides income for the running of our ministry initiatives.
Come and see us from Monday – Friday from 9:30-4pm for some of the best bargains in the Illawarra. We have men’s, women’s, children’s and babies clothes, toys, books, homewares, bags, jewellery, and linen – everything you will need – along with a terrific community hub – where the coffee and tea are free and so are the smiles.
Our volunteers are committed to providing you with a great shopping experience, and are also there to have a chat and make sure you are doing ok.
Throughout the week BLC runs Bible study groups, where we gather to examine God’s word more closely and what it means for us living in Berkeley today. Bible studies are an opportunity to encourage each other to know Jesus better and follow him more faithfully, by examining the Bible and praying together.
While there is variety between groups, we’ll always read some of the Bible, chat about what we read, and how it impacts our lives right now. We also take time to talk together, share stories from our weeks, pray for each other, and share a cuppa. Because we come from a range of backgrounds and experiences, we aim to study the Bible in ways that are accessible for anyone, and assume no prior knowledge of the Bible, or study. There’s no such thing as a stupid question in our groups – if you’re wondering about it, someone else probably is too! Come along and join us!

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts.
